It was three months ago today that Brooke Wilberger disappeared from a Corvallis apartment complex. Since then, there's been no sign of the 19 year old from Veneta.
Wilberger's classmates are returning to the campus of Brigham Young University in Utah to start school on August 30th. And while the teen is still missing, she is with them in spirit as they participate in fasting and prayer.
Wilberger's best friend from college organized today's fasting. Mormons across the country are participating. "Fasting is supplemental to prayer and so we believe that even if this doesn't come up with something big to have Brooke show up, it will give comfort to her family," said Brittany Knight. Friends and family in Oregon are also taking part in the day of fast.
Corvallis police say they may soon be getting help from the the National Center for missing and Exploited Children. Officers say despite the fact that Wilberger has been missing for three months, they are still dedicated to finding her. "Brooke's not a statistic, right now she is the only person we have in the city of Corvallis that's missing. We don't know where she is. We know she's been abducted. We are continuing to look. There are a lot of examples of people out there of people being found," said Lt. Ron Noble.
Corvallis police have questioned about 500 people and have five persons of interest. Investigators say they are getting five to fifteen new leads a week.
